Cyber attack on India’s nuclear plant control system! Read whole case

NPCIL said in a statement that when it was investigated, it was found that the PC affected by this virus belonged to a user who was connected to the Internet network.

The issue of virus in the smartphone has become common. But now an important news is coming out that is very important for everyone. Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL), the state-run company that operates nuclear reactors across the country, has said that it identified malware in one of its computers last month.

But the systems present in the plant are not affected by this. A statement related to this said that when it was investigated, it was found that the PC affected by this virus belonged to a user who was connected to the Internet network. It was used for administrative use. This is different from any critical internal network.

Officers of the Tamil Nadu-based Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project (KKNPP) have strongly denied that the control system was hacked. A senior government official had said that it was confirmed in an audit that the incident took place but it was not fueled by the main operation of the power plant. The incident is said to have happened to computers that are used for administrative tasks.

An expert Pukhraj Singh has said that he had informed the Indian government about the incident of Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant on 4 September. NPCIL investigated this and detected the malware on 4 September itself.

The case was immediately investigated by Atomic Energy Specialists. NPCIL has reported that networks are constantly being tested. Also, during the investigation it was confirmed that the systems present in the plant are not affected by it.

Let us tell you that NPCIL has been designed to make nuclear power reactors in India. It is currently operating 22 commercial nuclear power reactors with a capacity of 6780 MW.
